Many of our students wonder how we got started in the real estate investing business and what they should do to have the best chance of being successful.  For us, the best move we ever made was investing in ourselves and our education by attending real estate trainings and bootcamps.  First, we attended all the free events we could (because we had very little money) but soon it was time for us to pay for a real bootcamp.  So we invested $3,000 to attend a training weekend where we learned how to buy, fix and sell homes for a profit.

While the information learned at the event was great, the true value of the event was in our networking.  That event is where we met our future mentors, Than Merrill & Paul Esajian of Fortune Builders and A&E's Flip This House.  At that point, we asked them to train us personally (and we paid them a lot of money to do it!) and it allowed us to do 25 deals in our first year.  Since then, we've done close to 250 deals!
